Areas of practice

A deliberately narrow scope — depth over breadth, and honest referrals for anything outside it.

01

Psychological assessment

Structured diagnostic evaluation using validated instruments — for diagnostic clarity, treatment planning, or a second opinion. Includes a written report and a feedback session explaining every finding in plain language.

02

Anxiety & OCD treatment

Gold-standard protocols: CBT for generalized anxiety and panic, exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD. Time-limited, measurable, and demanding — because that is what works.

03

Trauma & PTSD treatment

Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure — the two treatments with the strongest evidence for PTSD. Delivered with structure, pacing, and respect for what your history has cost you.

Honest fit

The right practice matters more than any practice.

Fifteen years in, I know exactly what I treat well — and I'd rather refer you brilliantly than treat you adequately.

We're likely a good fit if you're…

  • Adults (18+) dealing with anxiety, panic, OCD, or the aftermath of trauma
  • People who want a clear diagnosis and a defined treatment plan — not open-ended talk
  • High-achievers whose coping strategies have quietly stopped working
  • Clients referred by a physician or therapist for assessment or a second opinion

I'll refer you to someone better suited for…

  • Children and adolescents — I'll connect you with excellent child specialists
  • Active psychosis or conditions needing psychiatric medication management as the primary care
  • Couples or family therapy as the main focus
  • Crisis support — if you're in immediate danger, call or text 988 now

The first few steps

A structured path, from first contact.

Effective treatment starts with knowing exactly what we're treating. Every new client moves through the same clear sequence.

Step 01

Intake consultation.

A focused 20-minute call covering your concerns, relevant history, and goals. You'll leave knowing whether my practice is the right fit — and if it isn't, a specific referral to someone who is.

Step 02

Assessment & formulation.

One to three sessions of structured clinical assessment, using validated instruments where indicated. We end with a clear formulation: what's happening, why, and what the evidence says will help.

Step 03

Treatment with measurable goals.

A defined treatment plan with progress we actually measure. Most protocols run 12–24 sessions. You will always know where we are, what comes next, and how we'll know it's working.

About Dr. Voss

In their words

Two prior therapists treated my 'anxiety' for years. Dr. Voss spent three sessions on assessment, identified OCD, and put me on an ERP protocol. The difference between managed and treated is everything.

Common questions

Answers before you have to ask.

Anything unanswered here gets covered in the intake call — bring every question you have.

Do you take insurance?

I'm an out-of-network provider. You'll receive a monthly superbill to submit to your insurer — most PPO plans reimburse 40–80% of the session fee. My office verifies your out-of-network benefits before your first appointment, free, so you'll know your real cost up front.

What happens in the first session?

The first one to three sessions are assessment: structured interviews and, where useful, validated questionnaires. We end with a plain-language formulation — what's going on, why, and exactly what treatment I recommend. You'll never wonder what the plan is.

How long does treatment take?

Most of the protocols I use run 12–24 sessions. Some situations resolve faster; some need longer. Because we measure progress with real instruments, we'll both know whether it's working — and when we're done.

Is everything confidential?

Yes, with the standard legal exceptions (imminent risk of harm, abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order) — I'll walk you through exactly what those mean before we begin. Telehealth sessions run on HIPAA-compliant video.

Telehealth or in person?

Both. In-person sessions are in my Austin office; secure video sessions are available anywhere in Texas. Assessment batteries are usually best in person; ongoing treatment works well either way.
